When Your EMS Shift is a Disaster: Practices and Advances in Prehospital Trauma Care

Notes: Join us for a course focused on prehospital trauma and disaster care! Lecture topics include but not limited to: hostile environment, hemorrhagic shock management, prehospital blood administration, burn care, TBI and spinal cord injuries, crush injuries and field amputations, chest trauma, and difficult/dynamic airway management. Free breakfast and lunch to be provided! Attendees will receive Baystate Health EMS week gifts. 5.5 hours of CEUs pending approval.

Join us for a day of free EMS education focusing on prehospital disaster and trauma care. We will have lectures from: Baystate Health Trauma Services, LIFESTAR, Baystate Health Critical Care Team, and our own EMS Physicians. Topics of focus to inlcude: Hostile environments, hemorrhagic shock management, prehospital blood administration, burn care, trauma & field triage, TBI and spinal cord injuries, and pediatrics in a disaster. We will move into rotating afternoon stations to inlcude: crush and compartment injuries with field amputation, chest injuries, difficult and dynamic airway management, and disaster based scenarios. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided. We hope to see you there!

UPDATE 12/2024: We are happy to introduce a new course option: a Combined ACLS & BLS Renewal. This enables students to complete an ACLS and BLS Renewal Course in one day by taking one convenient, fully in-person class. Please click on that course type for more details. 

 

Most classes offered are open to the public, however, please view notes in the class registration to make sure.  All employees of Baystate Health should use a personal e-mail for registration.  All classes must be prepaid.

 

We offer Initial and Renewal Courses for certification in ACLS, PALS and BLS, these are fully in-person. Initial Courses are ideal for someone who has not taken the course previously or has an expired card. Renewal Courses are ideal for those that have an active card, but needs to renew it.

We also offer Heartcode Courses for certification in ACLS, PALS and BLS.  Heartcode Courses provide the same certification as initials and renewals, but are offered in a hybrid format. The didactic portion of these classes are offered online, and then the student is required to attend an in-person practical skills session with an instructor. Enrolling in a Heartcode Course on this website will register you for both the online and in-person training. The date/time listed is when the student is required to attend their skills session. 

 

The Baystate Education Center is located at 361 Whitney Ave. in Holyoke, MA.

The Education Center is found at the second entrance to the building. When pulling into 361 Whitney Ave, you will pass the first entrance, labeled LABCORP on your left. Continue past the speedbumps, up the hill to the second entrance on your left. Park anywhere in the parking lot to your right.
